The First Weekend of Spring—And the Beginning of Me

This past weekend, the first weekend of spring, a new chapter began. A chapter I’ve dreamed about most of my life.
Growing up, I was always in a creative space. Interior design, crafts, writing… creating was never something I did, it was who I was. And writing, especially, has always been my outlet. The place I go when I need to shut the world off and just be.
About a year ago, I did exactly that. I got quiet. I stopped trying to be the version of me that everyone else needed and started focusing on the version of me that I needed.
And somewhere in that silence, I found myself again. Hidden in the pages of this book.
I’ve always thought it would be cool to be an author. It was a dream I carried, but never fully believed was possible. Back in 2015, I actually wrote my first novel and then tucked it away on my computer like it didn’t matter. And that was where I left it there.
I the moment of trying to find myself, I found that forgotten novel and something shifted.
I may never publish that novel and that’s okay, but finding it reminded me of who I am. It reminded me that I’m not here to be who everyone else expects me to be. I’m here to be who I need to be.
Opening that file, reading those words, realizing… I’m actually a pretty decent writer… it sent me down a completely different path.
It felt like standing at a fork in the road. One path was familiar. Safe. Predictable. The version of my life I had already outgrown. The other? Unknown. Uncomfortable. A little terrifying. And that day, I chose the unknown.
Scared as hell… but I chose it anyway. And now here we are, one year later. I just finished my book launch party. My book is live. It’s out in the world. And for the first time in a long time… I feel free.
Not because everything is perfect. But because I finally did something for me.
That feeling? There’s nothing like it.
So I’ll leave you with this, If there’s something in your heart pulling at you, go for it. You don’t have to perform for everyone else. You don’t have to prove anything. You just have to show up for yourself. That is exactly what I did and I have zero regrets.
You can check out my book over on Amazon. Head over to the Creative Projects link here on my site and it will take you there.
